COOKING WITH TAROT / / NOURISHING THE BODY AND SOUL

IMG_8327.jpeg

I am starting a new weekly column on my two loves, Tarot and cooking nourishing food that heals the body. The mind, body, soul are interwoven so delicately and beautifully together. Tarot, an excellent tool for our soul evolution and food, a wonderful tool for nourishing our physical body and organs, together create some of the ultimate healing allies. As this column is new, it will grow, shapeshift and evolve, but for now I imagine it to follow the path of single card pulls and simple recipes to harness the magic and energy of that card. Join me on cooking with your Tarot deck.

Today’s Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn is bringing a lot of energies. In Tarot, Capricorn rules the card the Devil. The Devil invites us to look the areas in our lives where we feel trapped, helpless, and opressed and realize that often times this is created by our own doings. This card invites us to look at these aspects with open eyes, so we can be reminded that we are the authors of our own lives. We hold the power to our life, to our choices and we can make the changes we desire. Through hard work, diligence, compassion and an open mind, we can again become reconnected with our own divinity. As we work through our unhealthy patterns, behaviors, relationship, etc, the Full Moon invites us to release, let go and shed what is no longer serving. The Full Moon encourages great release so we can step into a new beginning.

Recipe for the Devil or as I like to call it, Dining with the Devil: Papaya Salsa Salad

Papaya is one of the most nourishing and easily digestible foods on the planet. They contain powerful enzymes, amino acids that help with stomach issues, skin issues, constipation and so much more. The spiritual and emotion lesson of Papaya is rich and aligns with the invitation of the Devil. Papayas grow on very small trees, yet the fruit that grows is it extremely large and seems almost impossible to be supported by its tiny trunk and branches. This teaches, that we too can overcome struggle, weakness, and defy the impossible. Papaya encourages us to connect with our inner truth, trust ourselves and know that we have the perseverance to make it out to the other side of the challenges in front of us.

Tomatoes contain lycopene which is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the world. Antioxidants are great for heart and brain health, boosting your eyesight, keeping your bones strong and much more. Eating tomatoes will help to open your heart and improve blood circulation. This is particularly important when exploring the Devil card. An open heart, to hold compassion and love for yourself as you move through the challenges that arise.

Red Onions are known as nature’s antibiotics. They help in eliminating bacterial overgrowth in the body, the enhance the body’s production of B12 and they are great at ridding the body of toxins and heavy metals. Red Onion is an excellent ally in working with the Devil Card. It helps to release any frustration or pent up anger and resentment. Working through the challenges of the Devil card can be difficult, frustrating and sometimes bring up resentment and judgement towards yourself or others. Onions, help to release this from your body and mind.

Red Jalapenos aid in fighting off bacteria, support the immune system, boost eyesight and detox the body. Adding jalapenos can help you shift your perspective, see clearly into your challenges and understand the work you are doing with the Devil card. Once we accept, and look deeply into ourselves, it is then we can release and detox what is no longer serving.

To make:

1 papaya

2 tomatoes (I like heirloom in summer months)
